Knitters and Crafters

Apr 17, 2023

The District 24 Twiddlemuff Project was initiated in 2017 by Donna Hubel to create unique items that could be used by Alzheimer and dementia patients to calm them and occupy their hands. The knitters and crafters who create the twiddlemuffs meet once a month to share ideas and materials. They use donated yarn and other items, such as buttons, beads, lace and ribbons. Each twiddlemuff is different and, when completed, they are donated to individual patients or retirement homes in Scarborough and East York. As of the most recent meeting of the group, 567 twiddlemuffs have been completed and donated! The members of the group are now branching out into creating knitted or crocheted lap blankets. Knitters and crafters may pursue a project for their own pleasure and use.

The Knitters and Crafters group meets on one Monday each month (except July and August). If you would like to participate in this group or donate supplies, drop in on any of our meeting dates. Coffee is on tap, courtesy of RTO District 24. For more information, please contact Chris Elliot. [email protected]
